Translations

(Etheridge) And they demanded and said to him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Meshicha, nor Elia, nor the Prophet ?

(Murdock) And they asked him, and said to him: Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?

(Lamsa) And they asked him and said to him, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?

(KJV) And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
