Translations

(Etheridge) FIRE have I come to send forth upon the earth, and I would that it already burned:

(Murdock) I have come to cast fire on the earth; and I would, that it already burned.

(Lamsa) I came to set the earth on fire; and I wish to do it, if it has not already been kindled.

(KJV) I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
